During Scarlet, I remember dancing, smiling and I began to laugh when I realized I reached that rare feeling we all hope for as we walk into each show: When you, the band and the crowd are one.In the week of Sept. It was the only time I heard, saw and FELT a show. I was standing in the metal bleachers in the back of the gym, and you did not so much hear Phil and you felt every note he played rumble up through the metal into your feet and out through you head.

You could tell the band loved the room and as they pour energy out to the crowd it was doubled in return and continued to grow throughout the night. This place held maybe 3K people, and everybody was on top of the band and dancing. The fall Scarletfre at the CEntrum was merely great. 1983 was the golden age of ScarletFire and these versions are second to none. The beautiful beginning of the second set, second to none, rates five stars. After this, the rest of the show is merely ordinary excellence. Not the longest or most intense riffing but, again, the timing is impeccable and the jams build and crest perfectly. This may be the best estimate ever, as well. Far more than noodling and tuning prior to the start, it's a sly bit of interplay that, again, BOOMS! into Estimate. Jerry is prominent in the mix and he is definitely driving the bus! It's too bad that the time between the end of ScarletFire and the start of Estimate is cut. The ending is also perhaps as good a Scarlet coda as you could ever hear. Someone earlier talked about how they go back and forth in the transition and then, BAM! perfect Fire. ALL the jams build perfectly and crest and drop off like a perfect wave. Sure, Jerry flubs a line in Scarlet but that doesn't deter from the excellence of this performance. But there is no version second to this one. I don't know if you can call any one ScarletFire the best but I think there is none better than 4-13-83. The energy in the show reminds me of my first in 85 ( hampton) i started jammin on the dead in 83, i guess what freaks me out the most is how familiar every song is I've heard, it's like we heard it before we arrived on the planet, this show really digs down deep, it has the whole repetoire from ballads to country to jazzy jammin, scarlet/fire luv it I wish i was there but i'm here, short hair married 4 kids house in the berbs even church on sundays but i still crave those special moments when you can sit back listen with a new set of ears and enjoy some of the best musicians in our time, so my friends out there I can honestly say I miss Brent Jerry the boys and all the cool heads that made the trips so cooool, take care merry christmas and don't forget to spread the love in the world today, i'm gonna listen to good luv one more time!!!!!!!!!!!! As I sit in my office playing santa, wrapping presents, jamming and sippin' a little chivas regal ( a gift from a friend) I am once again blown away by the boys.
